Al-Nassr have completed the signing of Portugal international Samu Costa from Mallorca, according to a FootballTransfers report published on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
The 25-year-old midfielder joins Cristiano Ronaldo’s club ahead of the new Saudi Pro League season, strengthening Al-Nassr’s Portuguese core alongside Joao Felix and head coach Jorge Jesus. Ronaldo is also a minority shareholder in the club.
Costa attracted interest from several European sides, including RB Leipzig, but Al-Nassr secured the deal after reaching an agreement with Mallorca. The transfer fee has not been officially disclosed, although reports estimate it at around €25 million, which would make Costa Mallorca’s most expensive sale.
Primarily a defensive midfielder, Costa enjoyed an impressive 2025-26 La Liga campaign, scoring seven goals in 34 appearances while earning praise for his work rate, defensive ability and attacking contribution.
He also represented Portugal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring in the group-stage match against Colombia.
Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Aston Villa had all been linked with Costa before his move. Football analyst Andy Brassell previously suggested the midfielder would have been a strong replacement for Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez, citing his athleticism, tactical discipline and goal-scoring ability.
