Mbaorun Adebo, a resident of Anyiase community in Benue State, says many families displaced by repeated attacks are still searching for missing relatives and struggling to survive with little support.
Speaking during an interview with News Central TV on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Adebo said residents were forced to flee their homes as violence engulfed the community, leaving families separated and many people dead or unaccounted for.
“We have no one to turn to. We have lost our children. I cannot even tell you where some of my children are, and I have not even seen their bodies. We fled our home and have been living here ever since. Sometimes I wonder if truly we are citizens of Nigeria because we have been completely abandoned,” he said.
Adebo’s comments highlight the humanitarian challenges facing displaced communities in Benue State, where survivors continue to call for improved security, humanitarian assistance, and government intervention to enable them to return safely to their homes.
