Boko Haram Attack: We Are Two Teachers and About 20 Students—Namaske

Paul Namaske, Vice Principal of Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, has recounted how terrorists abducted two teachers and more than 20 students during an attack on the school while candidates were sitting for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations.

According to Punch, Namaske described the incident in a video, saying the insurgents stormed the school, disrupted the examination and forced the victims into captivity before they were later rescued by troops of the Nigerian Army.

“We are two teachers and about 20-something students. I cannot give the precise number, but at one point during the movement, when they gathered us in one place, I was able to make a rough estimate. They were about 20 students and two teachers,” Namaske said.

He explained that the confusion during the abduction made it impossible to determine the exact number of captives. According to the vice principal, the military later carried out a rescue operation that secured the release of more than 20 victims, bringing the ordeal to an end.

Namaske’s account highlights the continued security challenges facing schools in parts of Borno State affected by insurgent attacks.
