“Buhari Left This Country in Terrible Shape, Tinubu Came to Power, For 3 Years, He Did Nothing” – Ahmed

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for what he described as its failure to reform Nigeria’s policing system despite spending three years in office.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, June 26, 2026, Baba-Ahmed said the Tinubu administration inherited a difficult security situation from former President Muhammadu Buhari but had not taken meaningful steps to strengthen the police.

“President Buhari left this country in a terrible shape. Tinubu came to power. He had 3 years to look at the policing system as part of the security structure, he did nothing,” Baba-Ahmed said.

He argued that police reform should have been a priority, maintaining that a better-equipped and more effective police force would improve internal security and reduce the burden on the military in tackling the country’s security challenges.
