Joel Rubenfeld, head of the Belgian League Against Antisemitism, has expressed concern over what he described as rising antisemitism in Belgium, saying many Jewish residents are questioning their future in the country.
Speaking in a CBN News report on Friday, July 31, 2026, Rubenfeld said fear has become a growing reality for Jewish families, citing demonstrations in Brussels on the first anniversary of the October 7 attack that, according to him, included pro-Hamas protesters.
“My city, Brussels, looks more and more like Gaza. It’s just crazy. It’s a tsunami of antisemitism. Every Jewish person I speak with in Belgium asks themselves, ‘Where will we go?’” he said.
The report also cited polling indicating that many Jewish residents in the United Kingdom are considering leaving the country because of concerns about rising antisemitic incidents. It added that some critics have accused authorities of uneven policing, while highlighting broader debates over integration, public safety, and religious freedom in parts of Europe.
