Father charged with ‘r@ping and k!lling’ his two-year-old daughter

A man has appeared in court after the body of a two-year-old girl was found in Chertsey. 

Kevin Kerjean, 31, a French national who was born in the Central African Republic, was charged with murd£r, r@pe of a child under 13, and s£xual assault of a child under 13 on Saturday, June 27. 

The victim was not named in court, but the Crown Prosecution Service later said her name was Assia Kerjean. 

Her father appeared at Guildford Crown Court today, June 30, and has been remanded ahead of his next appearance at Guildford Crown Court on Monday, 14 September. 

A Surrey Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the victim was the daughter of Kevin Kerjean.” 

Officers were called to an address in Pyrcroft Road around 5.40pm on Thursday, June 25, following reports of a concern for safety. 

On arrival, the girl was found de@d inside the property. 

Detectives are still investigating how she di£d. 

DCS Jon Groenen said: “This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the child’s mother and extended family, as well as all those who knew her.” 

“Our teams are working hard to build a picture of what happened, and a significant police presence will remain in Pyrcroft Road over the coming days. 

“We appreciate that the incident itself, as well as the significant police presence, will be concerning for residents and we would like to thank them for their cooperation as we conduct our investigation.”
