Five Dismissed Officers Arraigned for Murder of Warri Musician OG Million, Trial Begins July 14

Five dismissed Nigeria Police Force officers have pleaded not guilty to charges arising from the killing of Warri-based rapper Oghenemine Ogidi, popularly known as OG Million, during their arraignment before Justice M. Nduka of the Delta State High Court in Asaba.

According to the prosecution, former Assistant Superintendent of Police Usman Nuhu is facing a murder charge under Section 319 of the Delta State Criminal Code, while former ASPs Owoloko Daurou Pamo and Okoh Kelechi, along with Inspectors Goodluck Kingsley and Omonigho Ahweyevu, are charged with negligent acts causing harm under Section 344. The court adjourned the case until July 14, 2026, for the commencement of trial.

Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole (SAN), said the defendants were entitled to plead not guilty but maintained that the prosecution’s case was strong.

“Nobody has the right to make himself the accuser, the judge and the executioner,” he said.

The charges stem from the fatal shooting of Ogidi at Effurun Main Motor Park in Uvwie Local Government Area after police allegedly found a Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition in a parcel he was attempting to transport. The incident, captured on video and widely circulated online, sparked public outrage, leading to the officers’ dismissal and prosecution.
