Gunmen Kill Retired Army Officer, Abduct Woman in Nasarawa

 

Suspected gunmen have killed a retired Nigerian Army officer and abducted a woman during an attack on a residential community in Nasarawa State near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to a report by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred at about 12:45 a.m. on Friday at Plot 038, PGC Community, along the Nasarawa–FCT border near Jikwoyi.

The attackers reportedly stormed the residence of 46-year-old Silas Orite and abducted his wife, 40-year-old Bukola Oluwatoyin Silas, taking her to an unknown location.

The community’s Chief Security Officer, Master Warrant Officer Reuben Yelwa, a 61-year-old retired Nigerian Army officer, responded to the distress call but was shot dead while attempting to assist the victims.

Police officers later visited the scene, documented evidence and launched an investigation into the attack.

According to the report, security operatives have intensified efforts to rescue the abducted woman unharmed, track down the perpetrators and strengthen area domination patrols to prevent further criminal activities.
