President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has defended his administration’s economic reforms, saying his record as Governor of Lagos State demonstrates that his policies can create long-term prosperity.

Speaking at an event covered by Channels Television, Tinubu said, “I have created wealth for some of your uncles and grandfathers through reforms in taxation, fiscal policy, infrastructure, and the business environment. We are laying the groundwork for a more competitive, productive, and prosperous economy. The journey is not yet complete. Challenges remain, but the path is clear, and the foundations for long-term growth are being established.”

The President said his administration remains committed to implementing reforms aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economy despite ongoing challenges.

On security, Tinubu said the government has intensified military operations, strengthened intelligence gathering and improved inter-agency and international cooperation. He added that the efforts have led to the neutralisation of thousands of terrorists and other criminal elements, the rescue of hostages, and the recovery of communities previously under siege by armed groups.
