Niger Delta activist and traditional ruler Asari Dokubo has shared a personal account involving his late father’s property, saying he chose not to contest the occupation of the family’s land in order to preserve peace.
In a video shared on Facebook on Sunday, July 19, 2026, Dokubo reflected on inheritance and family relationships, recounting a conversation with one of his sisters after discovering that someone had built on land belonging to their late father.
“I told my sister, ‘Someone has built on our father’s land,’ but she asked why I did nothing,” Dokubo said, explaining his sister’s reaction to the situation.
According to him, his decision not to challenge the development was based on his personal convictions and his desire to avoid disputes over the family’s inheritance. He said he accepted the situation rather than allow it to create conflict among family members.
Dokubo added that disagreements over inherited property can damage family relationships if not handled carefully. He urged families to resolve inheritance issues through dialogue and mutual understanding, stressing that preserving family unity should take priority even when disputes arise over property.
