Former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon has said Israel failed to achieve its key objectives in its military campaign against Iran and warned that the conflict has strained relations with the United States.
According to Anadolu Agency, citing Iranian state-affiliated outlets Pars Today and IRIB News, Ya’alon acknowledged that the operation did not accomplish its primary strategic goals.
Speaking on the campaign, Ya’alon said, “I think we got ourselves into trouble, and the worst part is that the United States is blaming us. We launched the operation with three objectives: overthrowing Iran’s political system, destroying its nuclear program, and damaging its missile project, but none of these goals were achieved in the war against Iran.”
He said the failure to meet those objectives has left Israel in a difficult position and contributed to tensions with its closest ally, the United States.
According to the report, Ya’alon also suggested that U.S. officials are increasingly distancing themselves from the outcome of the conflict and placing responsibility for the resulting regional instability on Israel rather than maintaining their previous level of support.
His remarks come amid continued scrutiny of the military campaign and its broader geopolitical consequences.
