Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike says he served as a consultant under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, where he supervised the rehabilitation and training of 100 former militants in Ghana as part of the Federal Government’s amnesty programme.
Speaking in an interview with Nedu Wazobia on the Real Broadcasting Network, Ike said the participants were taken from Nigeria to Ghana for rehabilitation and vocational training before being returned and reintegrated into society.
He disclosed that the Federal Government provided security for the programme, including police and military personnel in Ghana, to ensure its smooth execution.
Ike said the initiative was successfully completed and aimed at giving the former militants a fresh start while encouraging them to become productive members of society.
He also denied benefiting improperly from the programme, insisting he did not embezzle any funds allocated to the project. According to him, his involvement reflected a commitment to youth rehabilitation and national development.
“I trained ex-militants in Ghana during the tenure of former President Jonathan. I was a full consultant. I took 100 militants out of Nigeria to Ghana and, under the government’s arrangements, they gave me police and army there. I trained them and brought them back here; we integrated them,” Ike said.
