Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, says his recent meeting with Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria Patrick Egloff focused on key development priorities, including education, healthcare, and poverty reduction.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Obi described the discussions as productive, saying both sides explored ways to strengthen collaboration in sectors that directly affect Nigerians’ welfare and quality of life.
The former Anambra State governor also thanked the Swiss Confederation for its longstanding support for Nigeria, highlighting its contributions to economic development, cultural exchanges, humanitarian programmes, and peace-building efforts, particularly in the North-East.
Obi said international partnerships are essential to achieving sustainable development, arguing that cooperation with like-minded countries can help Nigeria tackle pressing challenges and promote inclusive growth. He stressed that investment in quality education, accessible healthcare, and effective poverty reduction policies is critical to building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
The meeting comes as political activities gather pace ahead of the 2027 general election, in which Obi is seeking the presidency on the NDC platform alongside his running mate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
