Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham says her husband, actor Kola Ajeyemi, played a key role in her decision to quit smoking cigarettes, although she still vapes occasionally.

According to the Nigerian Tribune on Friday, July 3, 2026, Abraham made the disclosure during an appearance on the Morayo show. She said she smoked cigarettes before marrying Ajeyemi, who encouraged her to consider the long-term effects of the habit, particularly after they planned to have children.

Abraham explained that she stopped smoking during pregnancy but briefly resumed after giving birth. She said her husband’s response ultimately influenced her decision to quit cigarettes permanently.

“I used to smoke cigarettes, I still smoke vape once in a while but I stopped cigarettes,” she said. Recalling her husband’s advice, Abraham added that he warned their marriage could be affected if their son grew up seeing her smoke or drink alcohol, stressing the importance of setting a positive example for their child.

She credited their conversations and mutual understanding with helping her make the lifestyle change while clarifying that she still uses a vape occasionally.
