I Was Once a Bus Conductor in Lagos, I Started a Restaurant Business as a Graduate – Igbokwe

All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Joe Igbokwe has reflected on the struggles that shaped his career, saying his success was built through years of hard work across several occupations before he gained prominence.

According to a Daily Post report published on Sunday, June 28, 2026, Igbokwe rejected claims that his wealth came from his political affiliation, insisting that perseverance, honest work, and entrepreneurship laid the foundation for his achievements.

He said he took on several jobs and ran small businesses while working to establish himself, stressing that his rise was gradual rather than the result of overnight success.

“I planted yam for people, I was a bus conductor in Lagos, I started a restaurant business as a graduate. I sold motor parts and I sold cars in Western Avenue in Lagos and I buy and sell lands. I am an author of five books. Today I am a fulfilled man. One thing led to another,” Igbokwe said.

He maintained that his experience demonstrates the value of patience, resilience, and consistent effort in achieving long-term success.
