A Nigerian man, Jimmy Rolland, has spoken publicly about the collapse of his marriage, saying he wishes he had ended the union on his wedding night after allegedly discovering that his wife was not a virgin despite her assurances during their four-year relationship.
Rolland made the remarks during an interview featured by Behind The Fame on Saturday, July 25, 2026, where he reflected on what he described as one of the biggest regrets of his life.
According to him, his estranged wife repeatedly told him throughout their courtship that she was a virgin and insisted they abstain from sexual relations until after they were married.
Rolland said he respected that decision throughout their four years of dating because he trusted her and believed the promise she had made.
However, he alleged that after their wedding ceremony, he discovered that she was not a virgin, leaving him feeling betrayed.
Reflecting on the experience, Rolland said he now believes he should have immediately ended the marriage.
According to him, walking away on the wedding night would have been the right decision in hindsight.
During the interview, Rolland described his estranged wife as deceptive, saying her outward appearance did not reflect what he later came to believe about her character.
“When you see her, you would think she’s an angel, but she’s evil,” he said.
He also claimed that he ignored several warning signs before the marriage.
According to Rolland, his mother advised him not to proceed with the relationship, while friends also encouraged him to reconsider his decision after observing issues during the courtship.
Despite those warnings, he said he chose to continue with the relationship because he trusted his fiancée’s assurances and believed their marriage would succeed.
Rolland further alleged that he later came to believe his mother-in-law had used charms to influence him throughout the relationship, preventing him from acting on the advice he received from family members and friends.
He also claimed that he discovered what he described as a recurring pattern within his wife’s family, alleging that several of the family’s daughters had not remained in their marriages for long.
According to him, that realization reinforced his belief that he should have paid closer attention to the concerns raised before the wedding.
Recalling the events leading up to the marriage, Rolland said:
“When we were dating, I saw many things that should have made me end the relationship, but my mother was dealing with me using charms. My mom told me not to marry her, but I didn’t listen. Even my friends advised me against it, yet I still refused to heed their warnings.”
He continued:
“I didn’t listen because she told me she was a virgin, and we dated for four years. She insisted that we would not have sex until our wedding night. However, after the wedding, I discovered that she wasn’t a virgin. I should have walked away that night. It would have been a good decision.”
Rolland’s account consists of allegations he made during the interview and has not been independently verified. No response from his estranged wife or her family was included in the interview regarding the claims.
His remarks have attracted attention on social media, where viewers have debated issues surrounding trust, honesty in relationships, personal expectations before marriage, and the importance of addressing concerns raised by family and friends before making long-term commitments.
