A Nigerian man, Jimmy Rolland, has made a series of startling allegations against his wife and her family, claiming his mother-in-law used spiritual charms and ritual practices to manipulate him into marriage.
Rolland made the claims during an interview featured by Behind The Fame on Saturday, July 25, 2026, where he recounted what he described as painful experiences before and after his marriage.
According to him, his wife and her family deceived him throughout their relationship, while his mother-in-law allegedly carried out rituals intended to keep him under her influence.
One of Rolland’s most significant claims was that his wife repeatedly assured him during their four-year courtship that she was a virgin. He said the couple agreed to abstain from sexual relations until after their wedding, a promise he said he respected throughout the relationship.
However, he alleged that he discovered on their wedding night that she was not a virgin, a revelation he described as one of the greatest betrayals of his life.
Reflecting on the experience, Rolland said he now believes he should have ended the marriage immediately after making the discovery.
He claimed that if he had walked away that night, it would have been one of the best decisions he could have made.
Beyond the issue of his wife’s alleged deception, Rolland accused his mother-in-law of performing unusual rituals on the night of the wedding.
According to him, she lit seven lamps and ensured they remained burning throughout the night. He further alleged that she buried a live goat as part of what he believes were ritual practices aimed at influencing and controlling him.
Rolland said these events later reinforced his belief that spiritual manipulation had played a role throughout his relationship with his wife.
He also claimed that he ignored repeated warnings from those closest to him before proceeding with the marriage.
According to Rolland, his mother advised him not to marry the woman, while several of his friends also urged him to end the relationship after observing what they considered troubling signs during their courtship.
Despite those warnings, he said he remained committed to the relationship because he believed his fiancée’s promises and did not recognize what he now considers warning signs.
Rolland suggested that his inability to act on the advice of his family and friends was the result of what he believes was spiritual manipulation by his mother-in-law.
Describing his wife, Rolland said appearances had been misleading.
“When you see her, you would think she’s an angel, but she’s evil,” he said.
He alleged that the combination of his wife’s assurances and the influence of her family prevented him from making what he now considers better decisions before the marriage.
Rolland also raised concerns about what he described as a pattern within his wife’s family.
According to him, he later discovered that several daughters from the family had not remained in their marriages for long, a situation he said further deepened his doubts after the wedding.
While discussing the alleged rituals, Rolland maintained that the lighting of seven lamps and the burial of a live goat were deliberate acts intended to bind him spiritually.
He claimed these actions formed part of a broader effort to manipulate him throughout the relationship and into the marriage.
Recalling the events, he said:
“My wife insisted that we would not have sex until our wedding night. However, after the ceremony, I discovered that she was not a virgin. I should have walked away that very night. It would have been the best decision I ever made.”
He continued:
“To make matters worse, my wife’s mother performed several strange rituals on our wedding night. She lit seven lamps that were not allowed to go out and even buried a live goat. It became clear to me that they were using charms to manipulate and control me throughout our relationship.”
