Labour Party member Abayomi Arabambi has alleged that former Anambra State Governor and NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi requested the phone number and bank account details of Faduri Joseph after promising to refund money reportedly paid during the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential primary.
Speaking in a video shared by Symfoni on Thursday, July 9, 2026, Arabambi claimed that Joseph and another presidential aspirant each paid ₦35 million to participate in the primary. He alleged that while one aspirant received a refund, Joseph did not despite assurances that his payment would be returned.
Arabambi said he was familiar with the matter because he was actively involved in the party’s internal affairs at the time.
“I have photographs showing him collecting the man’s telephone number and asking for his account details, but we didn’t know it was going to be an empty promise. He said, ‘Don’t worry, I’m very sorry because PDP did this to me,'” Arabambi alleged.
He maintained that the photographs support his claim that Obi sought Joseph’s contact and banking details to facilitate a refund, but alleged the repayment was never made. The allegations have not been independently verified, and there has been no public response from Obi in the report.
