Labour Party member Abayomi Arabambi has alleged that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, personally collected the phone number and bank account details of fellow party member Faduri Joseph after promising to refund money Joseph reportedly paid during the party’s presidential primary.
Speaking in an interview published on Symfoni’s official YouTube channel on Thursday, July 9, 2026, Arabambi claimed that both Joseph and another presidential aspirant paid ₦35 million to participate in the primary. He alleged that while one aspirant was refunded, Joseph did not receive reimbursement despite assurances.
Arabambi said he was familiar with the events because he was actively involved in the party’s internal affairs at the time. He further claimed to possess photographs showing Obi requesting Joseph’s contact information and bank account details to facilitate the alleged refund.
“I have some photograph where he was even collecting the guy telephone number asking for his account… He said, ‘Oh don’t worry, I’m very sorry because PDP did this to me,'” Arabambi alleged.
He maintained that the promised refund was never made, describing the issue as one of several unresolved matters arising from the Labour Party’s internal processes ahead of the 2023 general election. The allegations have not been independently verified.
