Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has responded to recent criticism from former Labour Party chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo, saying he should focus on reported legal cases involving Peter Obi and a former governor of Enugu State.
Speaking in a video published on Channels Television’s official YouTube channel on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, Tanko addressed the aftermath of the party primaries and urged Okonkwo to prioritise the alleged litigation.
“I think he should be concerned about the issue of the litigation that is already on him by Peter Obi and the former governor of Enugu State, as those are the two issues that he should be concerned about at the moment,” Tanko said.
Tanko also dismissed claims that the Obidient Movement exists only online, insisting it has established structures across the country and is prepared for future political contests. He added that the party has consistently relied on transparent internal mechanisms to resolve disputes, giving aggrieved aspirants the opportunity to pursue appeals through designated channels.
He maintained that criticism from former members would not distract the movement from its focus on addressing Nigeria’s economic and security challenges and urged political stakeholders to respect legal institutions and the rule of law.
