Peter Obi has dismissed claims that support for his presidential ambition has declined since the 2023 election, insisting that his political following has continued to grow.
Speaking during an interview, Obi rejected suggestions that the enthusiasm surrounding his 2023 campaign had faded despite the Labour Party’s performance in subsequent elections in Anambra State. He argued that state elections are not an accurate measure of the strength of a presidential movement because the political dynamics differ.
“If anything, my followership has increased because those who jumped into what they called an experimental thing, believing it would create a better future, have now seen that the whole thing was a mess,” Obi said.
The former Anambra State governor maintained that worsening economic conditions and governance challenges have increased public support for his vision, expressing confidence that more Nigerians now identify with his message of competent and accountable leadership.
