“My Landlady Refused My Money and Wanted Me Out in Three Weeks, but My Lawyer Turned It Around” – Halima Abubakar

Actress Halima Abubakar has recounted how her landlady allegedly attempted to evict her from her Lagos residence after she defaulted on her rent for about three weeks.

Speaking on Channels Television, Abubakar said she was surprised by the move, noting that some tenants remain in their homes for much longer without paying rent.

“It is just a month default. Lagos that they will stay one year, they will not pay house rent. A month, it is not even up to a month. I think it is just three weeks. And this woman was ready to push me out,” she said.

According to the actress, her landlady refused to accept her payment and insisted she vacate the property. She said she then asked for a formal eviction notice and engaged a lawyer to handle the matter.

Abubakar revealed that her legal team obtained a restraining order against the caretaker, preventing access to the property for three months and giving her time to secure another residence.

“I was waiting to see her come inside. But she did not,” she said, adding that those who expected to see her forcibly evicted were disappointed.
