Convener of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has insisted that the proposed joint presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will appear on the ballot for the 2027 election despite legal challenges facing the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja covered by Channels Television, Tanko expressed concern over what he described as conflicting court rulings on the recognition of the NDC as a political party. He argued that the High Court judgment in Lokoja was part of a broader pattern aimed at weakening viable opposition platforms ahead of the 2027 elections.
Tanko alleged that the ruling was intended to prevent Obi from contesting the presidency and called on judicial authorities and state institutions to uphold justice and resist political interference.
“For the avoidance of doubt, this is a hatchet job by the present administration to ensure that our principal, Mr. Peter Obi, is not on the ballot in 2027. Justice must prevail and no political manipulation. Let the will of the people prevail,” he said.
He maintained that due process would prevail, adding, “The joint ticket of His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi and His Excellency Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will be on the ballot.”
