Karim Adeyemi has informed Borussia Dortmund that he wants to join Barcelona, with the Bundesliga club reportedly receiving an official bid for the 24-year-old winger.
Adeyemi, who has one year remaining on his contract, has indicated he will not sign an extension, prompting Dortmund to consider a transfer this summer rather than risk losing him on a free next year.
Barcelona, who have monitored the Germany international for months, view Adeyemi as an ideal addition to Hansi Flick’s squad, believing his pace and attacking threat would strengthen the left wing. The Spanish club is reportedly working to finalise the payment structure to complete the deal before its pre-season tour.
Although Adeyemi represents Germany internationally, he is of Nigerian descent through his father, who is from Ibadan, and is also eligible to play for Romania through his family. Despite those options, he has committed his international future to Germany.
The proposed move to Camp Nou would mark a significant step in Adeyemi’s career, with negotiations between the clubs expected to continue in the coming days.
