According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, August 1, 2026, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has dismissed the political influence of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying he will not determine the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.
Frank made the remarks in a statement responding to Obasanjo’s recent comments about African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
He alleged that Obasanjo has repeatedly criticised Atiku whenever general elections approach, describing the former president’s comments as a recurring election-season pattern. Frank also claimed Obasanjo has consistently held Atiku responsible for the shortcomings of the administration in which they both served.
He urged the former president to focus on assessing the performance of the current administration rather than making Atiku the centre of his political engagements.
Frank maintained that the 2027 presidential election would be decided by Nigerian voters, not by the endorsement or opposition of prominent political figures.
“Hopefully, by God’s grace, you will witness Atiku becoming President before you leave this earth,” he said.
