Ogun: “I Managed Myself, I Said, ‘I Won’t Come Out,’ Kidnapper Fired Me With a Bullet” – Victim

A woman who sustained gunshot wounds during a kidnapping attack in the Ogbere Forest area of Ogun State has recounted the ordeal after being rescued by security operatives.

According to Punch on Saturday, June 27, 2026, the victim said armed men blocked the road as she travelled through the Ogbere Forest axis, trapping motorists before ordering them out of their vehicles.

She recalled seeing one of the attackers standing near a parked vehicle before he confronted her directly.

“When we were going to the centre of the road, what I saw was a young man parked. He said, ‘Come out, or I will shoot you.’ I managed myself, I said, ‘I won’t come out.’ He fired me with a bullet,” she said.

The woman said she initially refused to leave her vehicle despite repeated threats, hoping to avoid being abducted. The gunman eventually carried out his threat, leaving her with gunshot injuries before she was rescued by security personnel.

The attack is among several recent kidnapping incidents targeting travellers on Nigerian highways, with security agencies continuing efforts to curb the growing threat.
