Obunike Ohaegbu, a House of Representatives aspirant for Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency in Anambra State, has challenged claims made by ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo regarding allegations linked to Peter Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress primary election.
Speaking during an interview on Njenje Media TV on June 9, 2026, Ohaegbu addressed statements attributed to him by Okonkwo and sought to clarify his position on the controversy surrounding the party’s primary election process.
Ohaegbu denied sending any message to Okonkwo accusing Peter Obi of fraudulent activities or claiming that Obi personally requested money from aspirants to support a presidential campaign.
He challenged Okonkwo to publicly provide any message or communication in which he made such allegations.
“Kenneth Okonkwo I’m talking to you now. If you said I sent you a message, please, if you can show any message where I chat you and said Peter Obi is the head of scam or Peter Obi asked me to pay N10 million, or members of Southeast caucus asked me to pay N10 million because Peter Obi needed it to run for his presidency,” Ohaegbu said.
The aspirant insisted he was willing to accept full responsibility if evidence emerged proving he made the claims.
According to him, such evidence would not only warrant an apology to Obi but also to the people of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, as well as Nigerians generally.
“I will not only apologize to Peter, I will not just apologize to people of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, I will not just apologize to Nigerians, I will resign from politics,” he added.
