Dr. Oludare Marindoti has said that school teacher Michael Oyedokun, who was killed during the abduction of students and staff of Community High School, Esiele, Oyo State, might have survived if adequate security resources had been available and deployed promptly.
Speaking during an interview on TVC News on Saturday, July 11, 2026, while reacting to the rescue of the abducted students and the school principal, Marindoti described Oyedokun’s death as a painful consequence of delayed emergency response during security incidents.
“Assuming these resources were available in that local government within 24 hours, Michael Oyedokun would not have been beheaded,” he said.
Marindoti argued that the incident underscores the urgent need to strengthen security infrastructure and improve rapid response capabilities at the local government level. He said the timely deployment of security personnel, intelligence, and operational resources could help prevent the loss of innocent lives during kidnapping incidents.
Oyedokun was among the victims of the attack on Community High School, Esiele, where gunmen abducted students, the school principal, and other staff members. Although security operatives later rescued the abducted victims, the teacher was killed during the ordeal.
