Arise News broadcaster Rufai Oseni has described the emotional and psychological trauma experienced by victims rescued after being abducted by insurgents in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Speaking during a programme on Arise News, Oseni reflected on the ordeal of the rescued schoolchildren, teachers, and other victims, noting that the experience had left a lasting psychological impact.
His remarks came amid public praise for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the successful rescue operation that secured the victims’ release.
Recalling the condition of one of the rescued victims, Oseni said: “When that woman came out of the place, the first thing she was asking for was her husband and her car; you know the trauma of being in the bush.”
Oseni’s comments underscored the emotional toll of the abduction, highlighting the need to consider the psychological wellbeing of victims even after their rescue.
