The Nigeria Police Force has responded to allegations involving social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos, AIG Moshood Jimoh.
According to the report, published by PUNCH on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said the Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) had already questioned AIG Jimoh over the allegations.
The statement also disclosed that the FCID headquarters in Abuja invited VeryDarkMan on July 30 to appear before investigators with evidence to support the claims he made publicly.
According to the statement, the police said the criminal case linked to the dispute had been fully investigated and is now before a competent court following legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The Force stressed that the matter should be resolved through the judicial process rather than public debate or social media campaigns.
The police urged VeryDarkMan to honour the invitation and cooperate with investigators, while reaffirming its commitment to due process and stating that all parties would be treated fairly in accordance with the law.
