Paris Saint-Germain have informed Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches that he is no longer part of the club’s plans and is free to leave during the current summer transfer window, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reported on Friday, July 17, 2026, that PSG have notified Sanches’ representatives to begin exploring transfer opportunities ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The decision follows an injury-plagued spell at the French club, where the 28-year-old struggled to establish himself after joining from Lille, despite helping the club win the 2020/21 Ligue 1 title. He also spent time away from PSG on loan in an effort to regain form and regular playing time.
According to Romano, Sanches’ representatives are now actively seeking a permanent transfer, although no agreement has been reached with any interested club.
Sanches rose to prominence after starring for Portugal during its UEFA Euro 2016 triumph, earning the Golden Boy award before completing a high-profile move to Bayern Munich. PSG’s decision is part of the club’s ongoing squad restructuring as it prepares for the new season and another challenge for domestic and European honours.
