The Season 12 premiere of 90 Day Fiancé introduced viewers to 26-year-old Catie, who opened up about her struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder while discussing her habit of kissing other men despite being engaged.
Catie, described on the show as a “free-spirited Portlander,” said she met her British fiancé Josh while travelling around the world during what she called a carefree and nomadic phase of her life. During the episode, she explained that she first connected with one of Josh’s friends through Tinder before later meeting Josh himself during a night out.
Catie admitted that she kissed multiple people that same night before eventually sharing a kiss with Josh after he walked her home. Their relationship later developed further after travelling together, eventually leading to an engagement. However, she revealed in a confessional that she had recently continued kissing other men while intoxicated, claiming her OCD contributes to impulsive behaviour.
According to her, intrusive thoughts become more intense when she drinks alcohol, especially during emotional highs or moments of insecurity, leading her to act impulsively in social situations. She acknowledged that the behaviour had become more frequent recently and admitted it had created tension in her relationship with Josh.
Catie also linked her OCD to other areas of her life, including failing to secure an apartment before Josh relocated from the United Kingdom to live with her in Portland, leaving the couple temporarily without stable accommodation.
Despite the challenges, the episode showed the pair reuniting affectionately at the airport, though Josh appeared visibly uncomfortable with Catie’s repeated requests for public affection.
Josh described himself as more reserved and admitted he does not enjoy excessive public displays of affection, while Catie noted that discussions around intimacy tend to make him uncomfortable. 90 Day Fiancé airs Sundays on TLC.
