The principal of Community High School in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, has said kidnappers killed two teachers during their captivity to pressure the government into meeting their demands.
According to a Vanguard report published on Monday, July 13, 2026, Alamu told journalists that the victims initially believed they would all survive the ordeal.
She said Mathematics teacher Mr. Michael Oyedokun was beheaded on the second day of the abduction, while a second teacher, Deacon Esiyan Adegboye, was killed on the first Sunday of June.
“They killed them purposely because they thought it would force the hand of the government to provide them whatever they wanted,” Alamu said.
According to the principal, the kidnappers believed the widespread attention the abduction attracted would increase pressure on the government to respond to their demands.
Alamu also expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the successful rescue of the abducted teachers and pupils, thanking those whose efforts helped secure their freedom and safe return.
