Borno South Youth Alliance (BOSYA) President Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama has alleged that terrorists disguised as forest guards infiltrated a community in Borno State by wearing security-style uniforms, enabling them to pass through checkpoints without resistance before launching an attack.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Kaigama claimed the attackers used the uniforms to avoid suspicion and gain access to the community.
“The terrorists entered in forest guard uniforms and passed through checkpoints without resistance,” he said.
According to Kaigama, the assailants split into two groups after entering the community. He alleged that one group attacked the local market, where a second-hand clothing trader was shot and several women were abducted, although some reportedly escaped. The second group, he said, targeted a school and abducted students.
Kaigama also claimed the attackers staged a diversion at the market to delay the security response while the school abductions were carried out. He further alleged that many soldiers were away on patrol at the time, reducing the number of personnel available to respond.
He called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack and how the assailants were able to move through security checkpoints undetected.
