Terrorists: While We Are Monitoring Them With Phones, They Have Moved To Satellite Level — Falana

Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has warned that terrorist groups are adopting more advanced communication technologies, urging security agencies to modernise their intelligence capabilities.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on June 25, 2026, Falana said Nigeria’s security architecture must adapt to the evolving tactics of criminal networks.

According to Falana, terrorists are no longer relying solely on conventional communication methods that can be easily monitored. He argued that while security agencies continue to focus on tracking mobile phone communications, criminal groups have moved to more sophisticated technologies.

“While we are monitoring them with phones, they have moved to satellite level,” Falana said.

He described the development as a wake-up call for the country’s security agencies, stressing that terrorist groups are constantly evolving their methods. Falana called for improved surveillance capabilities and the deployment of more advanced technology to strengthen intelligence gathering and enhance the country’s response to emerging security threats.
