A woman rescued from suspected kidnappers in Ogun State has recounted how she was shot during the attack before being freed in a joint police operation.
According to The Nation Nigeria on Saturday, June 27, 2026, the victim was among five abductees rescued within 25 hours by operatives of the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands under Operation KOSAYE.
Recalling the incident, she said the kidnappers blocked their vehicle and ordered the occupants to come out.
“As we got to the middle of the road, I saw a young man who had blocked the way. He told me to come out or he would shoot me. I refused to come out, and he shot me,” she said.
Despite her injuries, she said the attackers seized members of her family. “He grabbed my daughter after shooting me. He later came back and also took my sister and me,” she added.
Police said the victim received medical treatment for her gunshot wounds following the rescue. Authorities added that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and determine whether the gang is linked to other kidnapping cases in Ogun State. They also urged residents to report suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
