Senate President Godswill Akpabio says Nigeria is no longer a mono-economy dependent on crude oil, attributing the shift to the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu.
According to Daily Post on Thursday, July 9, 2026, Akpabio made the remarks while inaugurating the National Executive members of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement in Abuja. He expressed confidence that Tinubu’s reforms were laying the foundation for sustained economic growth and would strengthen public support for the administration ahead of the 2027 general election.
“We are no longer a mono-economy dependent on oil, thanks to the thinking of Mr. President,” Akpabio said.
He argued that the government’s economic diversification efforts are creating new opportunities beyond the oil sector and improving Nigeria’s long-term economic prospects.
Akpabio also said the administration’s reforms have strengthened the financial position of state governments, enabling many to meet their obligations without borrowing. He urged supporters to continue promoting the administration’s programmes, saying continuity would help consolidate the gains of ongoing reforms.
