Paul Kinanee has described the emotional reunion with his younger brother, Gospel Kinanee, who was reportedly found in prison nearly 18 years after he went missing.
Speaking on Arise News on Thursday, July 2, 2026, Paul said Gospel had allegedly been held for years without an active case file. The case came to public attention after a lawyer reportedly identified him during a prison visit.
“When I arrived, I saw my brother sitting outside. If you looked at him, he no longer seemed like a human being. He began to weep,” Paul said, describing the effects of his brother’s prolonged detention on his physical and emotional condition.
He said the reunion marked the family’s first contact with Gospel since his disappearance nearly two decades ago after years of unsuccessful searches and fading hope.
The case has renewed concerns over prolonged detention and the administration of justice, particularly allegations that some inmates remain in custody without proper documentation or active legal proceedings. Human rights advocates have continued to call for regular audits of inmate records and reforms to prevent unlawful or extended detention.
