Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, convener of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), says he is challenging the eighth count in the criminal charges filed against him by the police, insisting he will defend himself against what he describes as unjust allegations.
According to a Vanguard report published on Friday, July 3, 2026, the PFIPC came under scrutiny following claims that it operated as an unauthorized agency allegedly linked to the Office of the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu. The Presidency denied any association with the council, while the controversy intensified after questions emerged over the PFIPC’s inclusion in the 2026 national budget.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga also announced Adeyemi’s arrest and said he would face prosecution.
Responding to the charges, Adeyemi said he would not be intimidated by the legal process and had the right to defend his reputation.
“I will not be intimidated because intimidation I condone not. I will not be discredited without response because you cannot beat a child and expect him or her not to cry. When pain is inflicted, a response is inevitable,” he said.
The case has continued to generate public debate, with renewed calls for a transparent investigation into the PFIPC and the allegations surrounding its operations.
