A young woman has reportedly died after being struck by a speeding vehicle within the Rivers State University (RSU) campus in Port Harcourt.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night, June 23, along Road A inside the university. According to reports, the vehicle was part of a convoy travelling through the area when it hit the victim.
Witnesses said the impact threw the woman to the ground, causing her to hit her head on the tarred road and sustain fatal injuries.
Reports further alleged that some vehicles in the convoy and their occupants fled the scene after realising the victim had died.
The identity of the deceased had not been confirmed as of the time of reporting.
The tragic incident has sparked concern among residents and members of the university community, with calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and the actions of those involved.
The Rivers State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
