Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying Nigerians are dissatisfied with the current state of the country and calling for leadership focused on addressing national challenges.
According to Vanguard, Obi made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, where he outlined his vision for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general election. He said that, if elected, his administration would prioritize national unity, security, education and poverty reduction.
The former Anambra State governor also dismissed speculation that he intended to serve more than one term, reiterating that he had agreed to serve only a single four-year tenure if elected.
Obi rejected claims that he lacked support from influential political figures in the South-East, pointing to his strong electoral performance in the region. He acknowledged that reforms would face resistance from those benefiting from the current system but insisted his policies would serve the wider public interest.
Speaking on his electoral prospects, Obi said, “Thirty-six governors would support the President, so it won’t be only 31 governors. I want to give all the governors to him (Tinubu), but the people in the states are not with him because the people are hungry.”
He added that every Nigerian, regardless of region, would be treated equally under his leadership.
