Turaki PDP’s Fred Agbedi Emerges Reps Minority Leader

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has announced Fred Agbedi as the new minority leader in the Green Chamber.

During Thursday’s plenary session, Abbas confirmed the appointment of Frederick Agbedi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker representing Ekeremo/Sagbama Federal Constituency in Bayelsa State, as the new Minority Leader.

Agbedi is aligned with the PDP faction led by Kabiru Turaki.

The Speaker also named Abdussamad Dasuki of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who represents Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency in Sokoto State, as the Deputy Minority Leader.

In addition, Mansur Manu Soro of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), representing Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency in Bauchi State, was appointed Minority Whip.

Abbas said the three lawmakers were unanimously nominated by members of the minority caucus.

He expressed confidence in the new leadership and assured them of the House leadership’s support in advancing the legislative work of the House of Representatives.

According to the Speaker, the leadership of the Green Chamber will work closely with the newly appointed principal officers to achieve the House’s legislative goals.
