UCC urges caution following campus flooding

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has advised students, staff and the public to stay away from some parts of the campus after heavy rainfall caused flooding on Friday, June 19, 2026.

In a notice issued by the Directorate of Public Affairs, the university said the heavy rains led to flooding in several areas on campus, making movement difficult and raising safety concerns for members of the university community and nearby residents.

The university identified the affected areas as Avenue Circle (Science Roundabout), the Zenith Bank area, the back of the Sandwich Lecture Theatre, Ayensu and sections of Sasakawa Road.

“The members of the University Community, especially students and the general public, are hereby informed that due to the excessive rains today, Friday, 19 June 2026, parts of campus and the surrounding communities are flooded,” the statement said.

UCC has therefore urged everyone to stay away from the affected areas until the floodwaters go down and conditions become safe again.

“All are entreated to avoid these areas until the floods recede,” the notice added.

The notice was signed by Felix Adu-Poku, Head of the Public Relations Section at the university’s Directorate of Public Affairs.
