A former security guard has allegedly confessed to orchestrating the killing of retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) staff member Olakitan Oyesiku and another security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, according to the Ogun State Police Command.
The Nation reported on June 25, 2026, that 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip admitted recruiting two accomplices to carry out the attack, claiming he wanted to “teach her a lesson” over grievances related to his remuneration while working for Oyesiku.
Police said Philip enlisted Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, who were later arrested. Investigators alleged that the suspects first overpowered Adetayo and used him to gain access to Oyesiku’s residence before killing both victims during the operation on June 20.
The crime came to light after officers responding to a report found Adetayo dead at the security post and Oyesiku’s body inside the residence. Her Lexus RX 330 SUV was missing from the premises.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni said investigators recovered the stolen vehicle and arrested Philip at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, on June 24. His arrest led to the capture of the other suspects.
Police recovered a broken hammer, cutlass, plank and black pen believed to be linked to the crime. Authorities said the suspects have made confessional statements and will face prosecution after investigations are completed.
