Deadly Overnight Bombardments as Ukraine Conducts Precise Deep Strike Inside Russia

Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine’s military and security forces have carried out a series of long-range strikes on Russian energy facilities, describing the operations as a response to continued Russian attacks and an effort to weaken Moscow’s war capabilities.

In a statement shared on his verified account, Zelenskyy said the strikes were “consistent and precise responses” to attacks on Ukrainian cities and communities. He claimed Ukrainian forces targeted an energy facility in Krasnodar Krai, about 300 kilometres from the front line.

He also said Ukraine’s Security Service struck the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim and Bashneft-Novoil oil refineries, located about 1,500 kilometres from the battlefield, as part of what he described as Ukraine’s “long-range sanctions plan” aimed at disrupting Russia’s ability to finance and sustain its military campaign.

“We are implementing our long-range sanctions plan,” Zelenskyy said, while thanking personnel involved in the operations. He also urged Russia to pursue genuine diplomacy, adding, “The war must be brought to an end.”

Russia has consistently condemned Ukrainian strikes on its territory, warning that attacks on energy infrastructure could further escalate the conflict. The claims have not been independently verified, and the war continues with no clear resolution in sight.
