INEC Was in Possession of Logo We Presented in 2017. At That Time, PMP Was Not in Contention—Director

The National Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Osa Director, has defended the party’s registration, saying the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) followed due process in approving its logo.

Speaking on Channels Television on Monday, June 29, 2026, Director said the logo submitted by the NDC in 2017 was thoroughly reviewed by INEC and found not to conflict with that of any registered political party or organisation.

“INEC had the logo that we submitted in 2017. At that moment, PMP was no longer a political group aiming for registration,” he said.

Director maintained that there was no legal dispute over the logo at the time of its submission, adding that INEC had all the necessary information to determine whether any conflicting claims existed.

“There was no contested logo legally. INEC was capable of establishing whether there was any dispute,” he added.

He also said the matter had already been decided by a court, which ruled in favour of the NDC after finding that its logo did not resemble that of any existing political party or group. According to Director, the judgment affirmed both INEC’s decision and the party’s compliance with the legal requirements for registration.
