Insecurity: Adeboye Defends Tinubu, Reveals 90-Day Ultimatum Given to Military Chiefs

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has defended President Bola Tinubu over Nigeria’s security challenges while calling for stronger action against terrorism and kidnapping.

According to Vanguard, Adeboye made the remarks at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington on June 23. He argued that President Tinubu, as Commander-in-Chief, had fulfilled his responsibility by issuing directives to security agencies.

“When the commander-in-chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit,” Adeboye said, comparing the President’s authority to that of a U.S. president.

The cleric, however, acknowledged that insecurity had worsened, with violence spreading from northern Nigeria to southern communities. He disclosed that he advised Tinubu to give military chiefs a 90-day deadline to end the violence or resign.

“I told him to tell all the military boys: You have 90 days. Wipe out this rubbish or resign,” he said.

Adeboye also urged the government to target the financiers of terrorism, whom he described as influential politicians and businesspeople, warning that military operations alone would not end the violence. He further called for stronger international cooperation, including increased support from the United States in tackling insecurity.
