Manchester United Have Been Handed Surprise Opportunity to Speed Up Two Transfers

Manchester United could accelerate moves for Felix Nmecha and Crysencio Summerville after Germany and the Netherlands were eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The exits end both players’ international commitments, allowing transfer discussions to progress. United have been monitoring Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nmecha as they seek midfield reinforcements. He featured during Germany’s World Cup campaign but was substituted at half-time in the last-16 defeat to Paraguay before the team lost on penalties.

Summerville, meanwhile, impressed for the Netherlands with two goals and three assists in six World Cup appearances before their penalty shootout loss to Morocco. The winger is expected to leave West Ham following the club’s relegation, although Manchester United’s interest may depend on Marcus Rashford’s future.

United’s transfer plans are also influenced by Manuel Ugarte’s injury and potential player departures. While Nmecha remains under consideration, reports suggest West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes is the club’s preferred midfield target, with Nmecha viewed as an alternative.

With both players now available after the World Cup, United are expected to step up talks as they continue strengthening the squad for the new season.
