Political commentator Bill O’Reilly has outlined what he believes the United States would do if Iran failed to comply with the terms of a ceasefire agreement, arguing that military pressure would likely focus on the country’s infrastructure rather than a ground invasion.
Speaking during an interview with Piers Morgan, O’Reilly said Iran’s economy was already under severe strain, claiming inflation had risen above 100 percent.
“He’ll bomb the ports. He’ll bomb the infrastructure, the roads, the bridges, all of those will go and it’ll make life very, very difficult for the individual Persian,” O’Reilly said.
He argued that targeting infrastructure would increase economic pressure on Iran while avoiding the deployment of U.S. ground troops.
When asked what could happen if Iran responded by attacking neighbouring Gulf states, O’Reilly acknowledged Tehran retained the capacity to inflict damage but claimed its ability to sustain a prolonged conflict had been significantly weakened. He said continued pressure would likely result in a war of attrition that would further worsen conditions inside Iran if its leadership refused to cooperate.
