Manchester United Complete Another Summer Signing Just Hours After Signing Chelsea Superstar

Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement to sign experienced goalkeeper Karl Darlow as the club’s new backup goalkeeper ahead of the 2026/27 season.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal was agreed on Thursday, July 9, 2026, with Darlow expected to complete his medical and final paperwork before officially signing on Friday.

The move comes just hours after United completed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos from Chelsea, continuing the club’s summer recruitment drive under manager Rúben Amorim.

Darlow’s arrival is linked to the expected departure of Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who is reportedly seeking regular first-team football. The former Newcastle United and Leeds United goalkeeper was identified as an experienced replacement to provide competition and cover for first-choice goalkeeper André Onana.

United opted for an experienced shot-stopper rather than a developmental signing, believing Darlow’s Premier League and Championship experience will strengthen the squad. The club is expected to continue working on outgoing transfers and further reinforcements before the summer transfer window closes.
